History
The Cessna 210 Centurion is a six-seat, high-performance, single-engine, high-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear, widely considered one of the finest piston singles ever built. First flown in January 1957, it entered service in 1960 as a performance-oriented evolution of the Cessna 182, adding retractable gear, a swept tail, and a more powerful engine.
Over its 29-year production run, the design evolved through 26 variants. Key milestones include the 1961 fuselage redesign, the 1967 introduction of a clean cantilever wing, and the 1970 expansion to a full six-seat cabin. A turbocharged variant (T210) arrived in 1966, followed by a pressurized version (P210) for high-altitude operations. The final model, the 210R, rolled out in 1986.
A total of approximately 9,240 aircraft were produced before Cessna ceased piston aircraft manufacturing. The N-series models were the most popular, and turbocharged variants ultimately outsold normally aspirated ones by nearly two to one. Today, the Centurion remains a respected cross-country machine in general aviation worldwide.
